Construction of an Additional 7 Classrooms & GP Hall and Refurbishment to existing school with substantial site works

Background

Bunscoil Bhothair na Naomh Lismore wanted to extend it’s current school building to accommodate it’s growing student base.

Description of Work

D.K.C.L. constructed a single story extension to the existing school comprising of 7 classrooms (approx 820m2 in size), ancillary toilet accommodation, link corridor and boiler room to the west of the existing school. The existing General Purpose room was extended which involved major demolition and temporary propping to remaining walls & the existing roofs. As part of the educational project, we refurbished selected classrooms and offices within the existing building and completed roof replacement to the current school buildings. The external wall finishes comprised of a Weber render system, aluminium doors & windows, internal walls were constructed using pointed block-work and ceilings were plasterboard & skimmed. The fit out, consisted of aluminium doors to classrooms, timber skirting boards, marmoleum floor finishes, toilet cubicles, fitted furniture to all classrooms and complete decor. In addition, we provided additional car parking spaces, vehicular driveway, paths, basketball & tennis courts, GAA pitch and ancillary site development works including removal of one prefab, underground duct work, drainage and utility services. There was a stone wall forming the site boundary, approx. 150m in length by 3m in height, which was partially demolished, rebuilt and existing mortar joints to the walls were raked out, injected and re-pointed using a lime mortar.
